With the holiday season about to begin the tablet market is heating up with an anticipated clash between the mighty Apple and the debutant Amazon.
ChangeWave has conducted a survey which indicates that there has been a threefold increase in the number of people aspiring to buy a tablet this year as compared to the last year. In a survey of the 3000 odd applicants 14% have responded with a yes compared with last year’s mere 4%.
ChangeWave’s preliminary survey reveals that almost 65% of the respondents are gearing up to buy the iPad2 whereas just 22% of them will be going for the Kindle Fire. The survey also paints a grim picture for the Galaxy Tab which only received a mere 4% interest. So the scales are tipping heavily in favour of the iPad2 to begin with.
Though the Kindle Fire is expected to garner good proportion of sales and revenue in the tablet market, the growth is estimated to be at the cost of the other players in the market like HP, Dell, Motorola and RIM. While the Kindle Fire might ring the death knell of these brands, the iPad2 might still see its market getting expanded further.
Interestingly that means that even though Kindle Fire is expected to farewell in its battle with the iPad2, the success of the Fire might end up benefitting Apple iPad more than hurting it. The Kindle Fire might just pull out the last breath out of the rest of the competitors in the tablet market, thus paving the way for Apple iPad to expand further.
